“As human beings, we all mature physically from childhood to adolescence and then into adulthood, but our emotions lag behind.”
Bernard Sumner
When I look back on my childhood, I remember those scorching days in the heat, swimming in the pool. I remember those long nights at the baseball field with my brother. But my biggest memory lies on the playground. I remember running around, playing pretend, climbing up the ladders, and demanding control of our pirate ship. I remember meeting other kids who were there for the same purpose as me, and we would play for hours. These memories are the ones I cherish most.
Yesterday is Not Tomorrow is about the internal struggle of growing up. Combining abstract, conceptual, and nostalgia-inspired photographic moments, I can cope with the changing of my life as it continues. I utilize light painting, as an abstraction, which serves as a reminder that amazing life moments are consistent.
